Café Chats
During my stay in Israel I hosted several Café Chats. The Café Chats’ main goal is to allow prospective students to ask questions about Ross and about post MBA career opportunities. It was weird to be on the other side after participating in such events last year as a prospective student. I tried my best to meet everybody who approach me, and I already spent more than 15 hours in total on recruiting events and private meetings in Israel. I truly hope that the effort Ross students invest in recruiting will have a good impact not only on the number of Israelis in Ross in the future but also on Ross brand in Israel.
On Thursday, I took part on Kidum MBA forum, and it was fun to meet students from other universities who applied in my year. During the forum I met Neta (who I realized actually read this blog) and Tal from Harvard, Shimon (The best guy ever) from MIT, Michal from Wharton and Keren from Insead. It was so good to hear about their experience and I wish I had more time with them.
Last but not least I want to wish best of luck to all Ross applicant for the first round (Just two more weeks)….:-)

Weekend at Haifa, Israel
My family and I went to Meridian hotel at Haifa. My family constantly complained that the weather is bad and that it is pretty cold there (just for comparison the temperature did not go below 7 degrees Celsius, so I felt great just being above zero). During the weekend, I had so much fun which made me realize how much I missed my family. Check out some photos from the weekend Here.
During the last week I went to pubs, restaurants and friends’ houses. I had breakfast, lunch and dinners pre-scheduled with friends and family and it was so fun. I truly enjoyed being Itzik again leaving Isaac at the airport.
I already know today that leaving here next week is going to be as hard as it was 6 months ago. That said a small part of me is eager to go back and start being interview for summer internship.

Oh the sun….
I am home, in Israel, I landed yesterday morning and the get leg is starting to rub off. It was so great to meet my family and friends again, and in the next few days I am going to meet the rest of my friends. The funniest thing here is that my mom keep complaining that it is extremely cold in here (13 degrees Celsius) and she plans to visit me in AA . Yet, me being able to actually use my sun glasses is amazing.
You can check out some pictures from my trip on my Facebook album.

What a flight….
I had my flight from Detroit to New York today on my way home. I deliberately ordered one night in New York so if this flight will be delayed I will not miss the flight to Israel. And guess what happen. Well, everything happened. At some part it was so sad it was almost funny.
The flight was supposed to take off at 10:05, but then it started:
1. The airplane is late and arrives to gate only 20 minutes before takeoff time, still, I said the weather is good we will be in the air on 10:20.
2. 9:55 the snow starts. And still boarding has not started, why? Go to 3.
3. A problem with the airplane, it is being fixed. 45 minutes delay was announced.
4. Once we were on the plane we lost our slot, so we were after a huge line of other airplanes. Why is there a huge line? Because the snow blizzard was so strong and the temperature so low each airplane was required to be diced before takeoff. Remember, if we were to leave on time we would avoid it.
5. So we drive to the deicing lane and the process starts, as it starts the captain announce: “One of the deicing vehicles is out of liquid so we will wait until it will be refilled”.
6. While we are waiting, someone on the airplane has lost it (Can U blame him), and starts doing some trouble.
7. The vehicles is back and deicing is ended, but….somehow I notice that instead of taking off I can see the terminal again…..too close.
8. The captain returned to the gate to take the dude off the airplane, while the airport security escorts him down.
9. So here I said, ok everything that could happen already happened, but that’s it we are taking off. Well not quite. Now the captain announce: “In our way back the ground crew notice that we have a flat tire in one of our wheels, and it would take around 30 minutes to fix it”.
10. At the end, with 3 hours late the plane took off on its way to NYC.
At the end of the day it’s nobody fault and the captain were just taking care for our safety, and I personally think that Northwest flight attendants and the entire crew handle the situation amazingly.

Crunch time
Yes, I know I was gone for a long time.
In the last 3 weeks we had the last opportunity to meet with companies and attend mock interviews. All with one big goal get a closed list.
A closed list is the list of students each company intends to interview on January/February. Each company publishes its closed list a week before its interview date.
How do companies determine closed list?
One can only assume it’s a combination of your resume and the level of interaction you had with the company in the last 3 months.
What happen if you are not closed listed?
Ross school of business knows that sometimes because of the large volume of applicants for each position, sometime a good candidate that really wants to work in a certain company get missed. If you are such applicant, you can still bid for the interview.
Bidding – at the beginning of January each Student receive 1000 bidding points, he can use those points to bid for interviews he was not originally closed listed for. Not all the companies allows bidding, but most of them do and most of them appreciate students who bid points for an interview with them since it’s a clear indication for the interest the student has in the company.
As far as my recruiting period, I know today I could have done better but I am really pleased and anxious and I probably will be until closed lists will be posted.
